OSB - Oriented Strand Board

square or T&G edges, sanded

OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is an engineered wood-based panel consisting of strands of wood which are bonded together with a synthetic resin; depending on the resin used, OSB can be suitable for interior or exterior applications; the strands are pressed together in layers. In the outer layers strands are generally oriented longitudinally in line with the panel length, whereas in the middle layers strands generally lie in a cross wise direction.

The main difference lies in the type of material (density, if it is mixed with hardwood or include only single sheets of softwoods) and the characteristics WBP (water boiled proof) of the type of glue:

  • phenol formaldehyde (PF);
  • melamine fortified urea formaldehyde (MUF);
  • polymeric methylene di-isocyonate (PMDI).

Market are used mainly for outdoor use: OSB-3 and OSB-4 (partition walls, roof lining, coating walls, shelves).

Already OSB-1 and OSB-2 is used for interior: packaging, floors, furniture, pallet tops, temporary formwork, etc.

Globaldis have OSB3 and OSB4, with the measures of 2500 x 1250 mm, in thickness from 10 to 22mm and can provide other dimensions on request.

OSB panels are produced with either square or tongued & grooved edges and can also be marketed sanded.
