King's College School Cascais
King’s College School Cascais, marking the first presence in Portugal of this prestigious international brand, consolidates its position as a leading reference, featuring a broad range of Globaldis solutions, selected to meet the high standards of security, acoustic comfort, functionality and visual coherence required by state-of-the-art educational facilities.
Choosing Portaro® proved particularly relevant in this project, providing a technical solution that integrates the door, frame and accessories in a single piece, designed to meet the functional and architectural demands of the building’s various areas. Its widespread use across the campus assured a seamless solution to the requirements for traffic flow, circulation and performance required in a large-scale educational facility.
In the field of security, the Portaro® EI30 and EI60 models are highlights, offering fire resistance rated at 30 and 60 minutes respectively; this selection is designed to enhance passive fire protection in strategic areas of the building.
Acoustics were also taken into account by integrating Portaro® AC32dB solutions, specifically designed to provide adequate levels of sound insulation in educational environments. This option helps to create more comfortable spaces, promoting concentration, day-to-day functionality and the well-being of the school community.
The building’s functionality also extends to mobility and accessibility features, which are fundamental aspects of an infrastructure designed to host thousands of users every day. In this context, the Portaro® Pocket Door and Portaro® Sliding Door solutions perform an important role in optimising circulation between spaces. To complement this, glass openings and overpanels were incorporated, thereby maximising the entrance of natural light and enhancing the comfort and well-being of the occupants.
Allocated according to the technical specifications defined by the project, Globaldis solutions were considered for the different areas of the campus, including classrooms, the sports hall, the auditorium and corridors. The delivery was complemented by Transform Wardrobes, tailored to the needs of the classrooms, and by technical shafts intended for the functional integration of the building’s infrastructure.
In terms of finishes, Dekordor® HD White was the predominant choice, creating bright and visually balanced environments. In particular locations, Dekordor® HD Black was also used, which was customised to complement the layout and design language of the surrounding elements.
